Dodge ended production of the Hemi-powered Challenger and Charger at the end of 2023, closing out the Hellcat era with a series of Last Call editions. Since then, many owners have asked whether their cars are going up in value. The honest answer is that it depends on which car you have. Most Hellcats were built in large numbers, so the limited versions are the ones collectors chase.
This guide covers the Challenger and Charger Hellcats, Redeye and Jailbreak models, and the Demon.

How buyers look at each Hellcat
Challenger SRT Hellcat
2015–2023A supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8, with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. Widebody versions arrived in 2018. Manual cars are less common.
Charger SRT Hellcat
2015–2023The four-door version, automatic only, with Widebody versions from 2020.
Redeye and Jailbreak
2019–2023More powerful versions of both cars. Jailbreak models (2022–2023) allowed unusual color and trim combinations. Both carry premiums over the standard Hellcat.
Demon and Demon 170
2018 and 2023Drag-focused limited editions. The 2018 Demon and the final 2023 Demon 170 were each built in limited numbers of about 3,300 and sell to collectors.
Last Call editions
2023Special editions marking the end of production, such as the Black Ghost, King Daytona and Demon 170. Cars carry an under-hood Last Call plaque.
What moves the price
- VersionStandard, Widebody, Redeye, Jailbreak, Demon or Last Call. Make sure every offer is for your exact car.
- How stock it isTunes, pulley swaps and aftermarket parts are common on Hellcats. Unmodified cars appeal to collectors and command more. Include original parts if you have them.
- Both keysHellcats come with a red key that unlocks full power and a black key that limits it. Buyers expect both.
- MileageLow-mile cars carry the biggest premiums, especially limited versions.
- Title and historyHellcats are frequent theft targets. A clean title and no recovered-theft history matter a lot to buyers.
How to sell a Hellcat, step by step
- Gather the details: VIN, mileage, options, photos of every angle and the interior, and your service records.
- Get written offers from two or three buyers who handle Hellcats. Send each one the same details so the offers are comparable.
- Inspection. The buyer confirms the car matches your description, either through a local inspector or a detailed video call.
- Agree the final number and paperwork. Get the price, any deductions, the transport arrangements and the payment timing in writing.
- Payment, then pickup. Funds (or your loan payoff) are confirmed, then an enclosed transporter collects the car and you sign over the title.
Standard Hellcats usually sell locally. For a Demon, Demon 170 or Last Call car, the right buyer may be out of state; ask for enclosed transport and confirm it's included in the offer.

Selling a Hellcat with a loan or lease
Most Hellcat owners who sell still have a loan or lease on the car. That doesn't stop a sale; it adds one step.
- Get a payoff quote from your lender or leasing company. Ask for a 10-day payoff figure and the exact payment instructions.
- Give it to the buyer. A professional buyer pays your lender directly and sends you whatever is left. That's your equity.
- If you owe more than the offer, you pay the difference (negative equity) before the title can transfer.
- For a lease, check first whether your leasing company allows a third-party buyout. Some only let the original dealer buy the car.
Keep copies of the payoff confirmation and the lien release. The full loan and lease walkthrough covers the paperwork in more detail.
What to have ready
- Title, or your lender's details if there is a loan
- Valid registration and a government-issued photo ID
- All keys and fobs
- Service records, organized by date
- Owner's manuals and books
- Both the red and black keys
- Window sticker and any Last Call or Demon documentation
- Original parts if the car has been modified
Common questions
Are Hellcats going up in value?
Most standard Hellcats were built in large numbers, so their values follow mileage, condition and supply like other used performance cars. The limited versions are different: the Demon, Demon 170 and some Last Call and Jailbreak cars are watched by collectors. The end of Hemi production has increased interest, but it's no guarantee of rising prices.
Do Hellcats depreciate?
Standard Hellcats generally lose value with age and mileage, like most cars. Low-mile, unmodified cars and limited versions hold up best.
How much is my Hellcat worth?
Compare recent sales of the same version, transmission and mileage, then get two or three written offers. Version and originality matter more than any guidebook value.
Is a Demon worth more than a Hellcat?
Yes. The Demon and Demon 170 were limited editions built for drag racing, and collectors pay clear premiums for them.
What's the difference between the red key and the black key?
The red key unlocks the engine's full power. The black key limits power output. Buyers expect both keys with the car.
